October 2019

Summer has come and gone and it is starting to feel like Autumn. I was pretty busy over the summer - I teach a program called Art through Time at a summer camp and the children created some really beautiful work.

I am still working on creating a few surface pattern designs - it seems to take me ages - hopefully, as I get more experienced, I will find them easier to make.

They are a bit of a mixed bag - In the next few months, I would like to focus on learning how to create collections and develop my designs into more cohesive groups.

I was hoping to create a new design for the calendar tea towel design challenge on Spoonflower but ran out of time. I have just updated my hedgehog tea towel that I designed last year with the 2020 calendar. It is available here.

I have also been busily filming and editing videos for a series of collage classes on Skillshare and just clicked "publish" on the first one.

Here is my intro for the class:

Have you always wanted to try collage but didn't know where to begin?

In this class, I will show you step by step how to create your own painted papers and create a simple and beautiful collage with them.

I hope that my class inspires you to pick up your scissors and start snipping!

If you sign up with Skillshare, you also get two months free to try out their wonderful array of classes.

I think Fall and Winter is a lovely time to put on a cozy sweater and work on creative projects. As well as continuing to work on filming my collage class series, I plan on taking a couple of Skillshare classes myself - I always love to learn new things and along the way, try to improve my artwork.

There will be some book reading too and maybe even a bit of knitting. And of course, hot drinks with perhaps a cookie or two.

I hope that your Fall and Winter is a warm and creative one.
